A luxurious Private Residence on East Coast Road inspired by local architecture, materials and techniques.
The garden is the focus of this Courtyard inspired home! While the entire architecture strives to be very contemporary with straight lines and clean geometry, there were many local influences that root this home in its geographical context of South India. Cost effective local construction techniques include the Rat Trap Bond brick which forms an interesting texture on the façade.
The East facing Main Door is flanked by the decorative ceramic fretwork to give the front façade a porous, airy and open look. The entire entrance feature is inspired by the traditional Padi-Pura – a typical element of South Indian Tropical Architecture. The “padi-pura” has a variety of materials both traditional and modern. The interplay of textures is seen in the images – terracotta, wood, ceramic, concrete, brick and glass.
