Sheila Sri Prakash, Principal Architect and Founder of Shilpa Architects in 1979, has the distinction of being the first woman in India to start her own architectural firm. The firm is known for its work inspired by sustainable vernacular architectural practices as well as a sensitivity for society and the built-natural environment. Notable projects include the Madras Art Museum at Cholamandal Artists’ Village and Mahindra World City.
